A Leadership and Life-Skills Course for the THE University of Hamilton Center, Inc. Community
The Thirteen Tools were developed by Melvin L. Burks, President and CEO of Hamilton Center, Inc., over decades of leading a behavioral health organization through growth, crisis, and change. They were adopted as the constitutional leadership principles of the THE University of Hamilton Center, Inc. because they describe something bigger than any one field: how a person leads, serves, and holds themselves accountable when the pressure is real and the outcome matters to other people. This is the foundational course of the University. Every member of the UH community completes it.

A Crisis Services Training Companion for THE University of Hamilton Center, Inc. Community
Crisis work does not pause for staffing shortages, holidays, closed community partners, or exhaustion. This companion course presents five real-world scenarios drawn from 24/7/365 crisis support, showing in context how Melvin L. Burks' 13 Management Tools guide staff toward the decision that best serves the person in front of them — not just the easiest or most convenient path. Each scenario identifies the setting, the situation as it unfolds, the decision staff must make, and a direct connection to at least three of the 13 Tools.

A Training and Governance Companion for Operations, Public Safety, and Information Technology Managers
Clinical fidelity and access depend on a layer of organizational infrastructure that rarely appears in clinical training: functioning buildings, safe physical environments, and reliable information systems. When that infrastructure fails, even briefly, the effect is often felt first and most visibly in clinical operations, even though the root cause sits in Operations, Public Safety, or Information Technology. This course presents five illustrative case scenarios spanning all three functions, designed to train managers throughout the corporation and demonstrate their ability to apply the 13 Tools to decisions in their areas of expertise.

A Training and Governance Companion for IT Managers Across CCBHC, FQHC, Outpatient, and Inpatient Settings
A CCBHC that also operates or partners with an FQHC, runs ambulatory outpatient clinics, and staffs an inpatient behavioral health unit depends on information technology differently in each setting. An interoperability gap that is an inconvenience in outpatient scheduling can become a safety issue in an inpatient medication order. This companion course presents five composite scenarios drawn from real-world IT challenges across the full range of care settings, designed to train all managers throughout the corporation and demonstrate their ability to apply the 13 Tools to decisions in their area of expertise.

An Operations Training Companion for Facilities and Grounds Maintenance Managers
Grounds and exterior facilities maintenance is easy to treat as a lower-priority operational function relative to indoor clinical space, since it does not house treatment activity directly. This companion course presents three illustrative examples showing why that framing understates the risk: exterior conditions affect client and staff safety, physical security, fire and life-safety compliance, and even water safety inside the building, often before anyone realizes the connection. Designed to train all managers throughout the corporation and demonstrate their ability to apply the 13 Tools to facilities and grounds decisions in their area of expertise.
